Dragon Boating is fun, fast-paced and contagious! It has become one of the world's fastest growing team water sports and it's coming back to the Solomons Island Dragon Boat Festival in Solomons Island, Maryland to be held on August 18 & 19, 2017! Watch as teams of 16 paddlers, a drummer and a steer-person work together to cross the finish line faster than their competition!

Friday, August 18
Festival Opening Ceremonies
on the front lawn of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church
14400 Solomons Island Rd.
ASL interpreter will sign at the Opening Ceremony.
Saturday, August 19
National Anthem and Color Guard at approximately 8:30 a.m.
Dragon Boat Races start at 9:00 a.m. and will end at approximately 3:00 p.m.
Races will take place on the Patuxent River
in front of the Solomons Island Riverwalk.
Marketplace and Food Vendors will be located
on the properties of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church.
Get a "sneak peak" of the racing teams as they practice
in the evenings during the week of August 14, 2017.

***IMPORTANT PARKING NOTES***
-No shuttle service is available for the Opening Ceremony on Friday.
-Handicap accessible parking available.
-Parking in the field at the Thomas Johnson Bridge will be reserved for those attending the Solomons Island Dragon Boat Festival.
-Parking shuttles will run on SATURDAY only.
-Last shuttle departs from Solomons Island to parking area at Thomas Johnson Bridge at 4:30 p.m.

The mission of the Solomons Island Dragon Boat Festival is to build awareness, knowledge and understanding between individuals with developmental differences
and the general public through education, program development and athletic competition.
The Solomons Island Dragon Boat Festival will provide funds to support programs developed through Southern Maryland Community Resources, Inc., a 501 (c)(3) qualified charity.
