Join Us At 5:30pm To Awaken The Dragons!
The "Dotting of the Eye" and "Blessing of the Boats" will take place on the front lawn of Our Lady Star of the Sea Historic Church, 14400 Solomons Island Rd., Solomons, MD 20688.
In this traditional ceremony, the pupil of each dragon's eye is painted in so the dragons can see. With another stroke of a brush, paint is added to their tongues so the dragons can breathe, now the dragons are ready to race for us! A "Blessing of the Boats" will take place immediately following the "Dotting of the Eye".
Free Admission-Accessible Parking will be located behind OLSS Historic Church.

The Solomons Island Dragon Boat Festival is a fun place to bring the whole family!
The Parade of Teams takes place at the end of the races and just before the Awards Ceremony, so be sure to stick around! This is your opportunity to cheer for your favorite team members who will be all "decked out" in their kooky costumes and don't forget to keep your eyes open for all the team drummers who have even crazier costumes than their team-mates!
The Awards Ceremony will bring an end to the Festival Events,
but why not stay awhile, there's lots more to do on our island:
~ View a spectacular sunset ~ Savor Solomons Island fare at a local restaurant ~
~Spend the night or the weekend at a Solomons Island bed and breakfast or hotel ~
